BBC 2008 年底播出了最新版本的《三十九级台阶》，故事是名著改编，主演是英俊小生、刚刚离开BBC的 Spooks 系列的 Rupert Penry-Jones，但是整部片子却拍得十分平淡，在悬疑设计上颇有偷工减料之感，连男主角也显得心不在焉，总体来说，比不上《三十九级台阶》的其它改编版本。 苏格兰作家 John Bu行运超人chan 的小说《三十九级台阶》说得是一个在非洲生活多年的英国人汉内被意外卷入间谍案，挺身而出与敌人周旋的故事。1915年出版之后马上引起轰动，之后被四次拍成电影或电视。有趣的是，每次改编，编剧们常斗罗大陆在线全集免费看常借用上次改编中出现的经典场景，以至于一些反复出现的情节其实并非出于原著。而“三十九级台阶”的含义也被改来改去，到2008年，还是回到真正的“台阶”上。
